SimCity BuildIt Top 10 Tips Guide for Beginners in 2020

SimCity BuildIt Top 10 Tips Guide for Beginners
I have now been playing SimCity BuildIt on my iPhone for over 4 years and these are my "Top 10 Tips Guide for Beginners" in 2020:

  1. Optimize your city layout from the very first day with a strategy for building your roads using as little space as possible.
  2. Use Mayor Daniel to your advantage by buying discounted items from his Trade Depot once every 24 hours then reselling them for a profit.
  3. Factories, Power, Water, Sewage, Waste & City Storage - See more at: http://www.simcitybuildit.info/2015/02/optimizing-your-simcity-buildit-layout.html#sthash.EEcv80Dp.dpuf
Make sure you put all your pollution making Factories, Sewage, Power, Water and Waste Plants as far away from your residential zones as possible.
  4. Place your Shops, Town Hall, City Hall, Mayor's Mansion as a buffer between your pollution making zones and residential Skyscrapers.
  5. Take more advantage of Mayor Daniel by pricing items at their highest possible level in your Trade Depot then wait for him to buy them from you if they don't sell out within 48 hours.
  6. Unlock and build Dr. Vu's Tower of Destruction so you can unleash disasters on your city and earn valuable Golden Keys at the same time.
  7. Increase your storage capacity by collecting Padlocks, Storage Bars and Cameras.
  8. Add flavor to your city by building Parisian, London and Tokyo Towns.
  9. Create a feeder city using a second smartphone or tablet so you can double dip into Mayor Daniel's discounted items plus buy and sell items cheaply to support your main city
  10. Buy items cheaply from the Global Trade HQ (mainly from newbies who under price) then immediately sell them on for a quick profit.
Good luck and hope you make lots of money - Happy Chinese New Year!

My Current SimCity BuildIt Statistics

I have now been playing SimCity Buildit on my iPhone 6 Plus since last January 2015 and although I lost my first game due to a phone reset I have continued to build up my second city over the past few months.

Without using any additional purchases of in-app goodies I have now reached the following KPIs:

Population: 768,679
Happiness: 100%
Simoleans: 82,780 (I just updated a whole bunch of expensive roads)
SimCash: 6 (I had a lot more that I won from City Achievements but I can't help spending this stuff)
Golden Keys: 4

I expect there are lots of people out there with better stats than I have so I would be interested to hear from you in the comments section on how big you have built your city.

SimCity BuildIt is the "Most Downloaded SimCity in History"

SimCity BuildIt App Icon
In an exclusive interview with Venture Beat EA Mobile vice president and group general manager Jason Willig has announced that almost 40 million people worldwide have played SimCity BuildIt since it launched just over 6 months ago and that the majority of users are from outside the United States.

"We’ve designed SimCity BuildIt to keep players engaged for years to come,” Willig said. “We see this iteration of SimCity evolving more similarly to games like World of Warcraft, Hay Day, and The Sims FreePlay, where new content, features and systems are introduced on a regular basis to keep players engaged, retained, and rewarded in an ever-expanding and evolving game for a very long period of time. The best mobile games can have a [3 year-plus] life cycle, so we’re just getting started with SimCityBuildIt.”

According to App Annie statistics SimCity BuildIt has been consistently in the top 10 iOS sim and strategy games in the US while ranking in the top 100 for US games and the top 150 worldwide making it a strong player in the apps market.

In the interview Willig goes into detail about the average user experience with the game saying that most players spend around 40 minutes playing the game each day while checking in 5 or 6 times daily for a few minutes each play.

Willig went on to comment that, “For SimCity BuildIt, our players spend on average 6-10 minutes per session, five-six times every day. While averages can sometimes be misleading, you can see a big difference: snack-size play throughout the day on mobile, versus ‘strap in’ deeper sessions on PC."

“One thing that is similar is that engaged players play a lot, regardless of platform. Our most committed BuildIt players are probably spending 13-16 hours per week playing the game — this is a rough estimate, not a hard stat! — which is pretty impressive.”

40 million downloads is not that surprising given the popularity of the franchise and the ubiquity of iOS and Android mobile phone platforms that now reach to billions worldwide but it is interesting that the mobile game has become more popular than its PC predecessors!

4 Tips for the Most Dangerously Expensive Levels of Fire, Police & Health Service for Beginners

Good Fire, Police & Health Service Coverage = Happy Citizens
Good Fire, Police & Health Service Coverage = Happy Citizens

Fire, Police & Health are Essential Services which get introduced early into the game just as most players are beginning to speed up their Residential expansions and can lead to sharp cash flow crises and immediate problems with Sims abandoning buildings en-masse unless you are financially prepared for it.

The followings tips can help you operate smoothly around these most dangerously expensive levels for Essential Services:

1) Which Levels do Fire, Police and Health become active services?

Fire Services become active early on at Level 5 while Police Services comes later at Level 12 and Health Services at Level 16 (plus minimum 16,000 population).

2) What is the recommended Cash Reserve for each Level?

  • For Fire you should have at least $20,000 available for purchasing different levels of fire stations for a modestly sized town at this earliest stage.
  • Police Service Units are 80% more expensive than Fire so a $30,000 to $40,000 Simolean cash reserve is recommended at this point.
  • Health Service Units are a further 23% more expensive so $40,000 to $60,000 cash reserve should be prudent as long as you have been maintaining a stable growth of residential units while focusing on optimizing revenues from factories and shops via your Trade Depot and the Global Trade HQ.

What is SimCity BuildIt?

http://simcitybuilditblog.blogspot.com/
SimCity BuildIt is a free-to-play/freemium mobile game app that has been adapted from EA's super successful 2013 SimCity for the PC.

There are a lot of differences in gameplay but in terms of visuals it is a pretty close look and feel of the desktop version.

SimCity BuildIt is available for download from the Apple App Store for iPhones and iPads as well as via Google Play for Android devices.
